Careers & Further Education

The aims of Careers at Stockport School is to empower young people and help them plan their future; making well informed and realistic decisions. Careers lessons provide our students with the support they need through the provision of information and an introduction to the wide variety of resources available that provide the specific details each student might need for their individual career choice.

The Stockport School Careers Convention in September/October enables all our students and their parents to meet with and talk to many representatives from the post 16 routes. A wide variety of speakers come into school to deliver presentations and workshops about different colleges, apprenticeship providers and various sectors of employment.

Students are made aware of the importance of presenting themselves well, using personal statements, CVs and practice interviews. All students also have an individual careers guidance interview with an impartial and fully qualified careers guidance counsellor.
